Despite efforts by Cambodian government of Prime Minister Hun Sen to block their return to the country, leaders of the Cambodia National Rescue Party have vowed to return home on Saturday, Nov 9 -- the country's independence day.

Human Rights Watch released a statement this morning calling on the Cambodian government to allow leaders of Cambodia National Rescue Party to return to Cambodia and allow all political activities to resume freely.

Human Rights Watch Thursday morning called for the Cambodian government to allow opposition leaders to return from exile.

The Cambodian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Thursday afternoon issued a document voiding the passports of 12 people, including opposition leaders Mu Sochua and Eng Chhay Eang. The statement follows the detention of Mu Sochua in Malaysia, ahead of the opposition’s planned return to Cambodia on November 9.
