Jailed Khmer Rouge leader Ieng Sary authorized the arrests of a number of people brought to his foreign ministry, a witness told the UN-backed court on Tuesday.

Salot Ban, the nephew of Pol Pot, said in his second day of testimony a security cadre named Pang would come to the ministry “from time to time” and arrest people who had come from abroad.

“Brother Ieng Sary said that if Pang came to find something, allow him the right,” Salot Ban told the court.

His testimony corroborates that of convicted torture chief Duch, as prosecutors seek to tie Ieng Sary and two more leaders, Nuon Chea and Khieu Samphan, in joint criminal conduct for the atrocity crimes committed by the regime under their leadership.
