Cambodian Political Deadlock Appears to Have Ended - 2004-06-03

Prime Minister Hun Sen and FUNCINPEC President Norodom Ranariddh say they have resolved all issues that have prevented them from forming a new government.

Mr. Hun Sen is expected to remain prime minister. Prince Ranariddh will be named the president of the national assembly.

Milton Osborne, a visiting fellow at Australian National University in Canberra, is a specialist on Cambodian politics. He says it become clear that Prince Ranaridh would have to join the prime minister if he wanted to gain power.
