Following his return from attending a Democracy Movement Conference in South Africa, the head of the Cambodian Center for Human Rights said he thinks Cambodia needs to strenghten the power of the people, increase the education on human rights and democracy among the younger generation that must include these fields of studies in academic curriculum from the elemenraty level though the university level.
Mr. Kem Sokha said there are many obstacles that are blocking the democratic developments in Cambodia, namely the lack of independent legal system, the impunity, and the corruption that all contribute to the abuse of basic human rights in this country.
