A Phnom Penh court has freed 56 of the 58 defendents who were found guilty of lesser charges of theft or attempted theft in connection with anti-thai riots in Phnom Penh last january.
But two of the defendents were convicted and sentenced to short prison terms.
Relations between Cambodia and Thailand soured after rioters vandalized and set fire to Thai Embassy and several Thai-owned businesses in Phnom Penh. Cambodia had apologized and agreed to pay for damages, and official relations have since returned to normal.
