Thai diplomats on Tuesday visited a Thai national detained in Prey Sar prison on charges of spying, officials said.
Siwarak Chutiphong, a 31-year-old engineer, was arrested last week for supplying Thailand with details of Thaksin's flight schedule while the fugitive Thai premier was in Cambodia.
“We met with him already this morning. Around three people from my Embassy in Phnom Penh did visit him,” Thani Thangphakdi, deputy director general of department of information at Foreign Ministry, told VOA Khmer by phone from Bangkok.
Spokesman at Cambodia’s Foreign Ministry, Koy Kuong, confirmed the visit took place.
Thai media quoted an official closed to the case that Chutiphong was well treated in prison and that he was in good health.
