Foreign Minister Hor Namhong hopes to have talks with US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton when he visits New York for a UN session next month, the minister told journalist Wednesday.
Speaking after a meeting with his counterpart in Thailand, Hor Namhong said he had agreed to meet with Clinton during a UN session in September, or later in Washington.
Clinton is a woman with integrity, he said, and he hoped for a continued good relationship with the US.
Details on a meeting date or agenda were not available, and State Department officials declined to comment until a closer date.
Cambodia and the US have enjoyed thawed relations in recent years, with increased American aid and training benefiting the government after the lifting of a 1997 ban.
Hor Namhong met with Clinton recently in Thailand during talks on development of the Mekong River.
