About 150 people on an Air Asia flight breathed a collective sigh of relief Monday night, as their plane landed safely following mechanical complications in-flight.
The landing gear on the French-made Airbus 320 had failed to engage, aviation authorities said, but after several flight circles above Phnom Penh International Airport, the wheels lowered.
"It has now landed," Him Sarun, head of the Civil Aviation Secretariat, told reporters. "The pilot solved the problem."
An Air Asia executive declined comment late Monday.
Cambodia saw its worst air disaster since 1997 last month, when a local tourist flight smashed into the mountains of Kampot province during heavy rain.
