Parliamentarians Fly to Indonesia for Talks

A delegation of Cambodian parliamentarians left for Indonesia Friday to attend an international conference, officials said.

National Assembly President Heng Samrin, who led a delegation of legislators with seats in parliament, said the talks followed a similar conference in Kenya last year.

Cambodia would discuss human trafficking, drug smuggling and terrorism.

Lawmaker Tioulong Saumura, wife of opposition leader Sam Rainsy, said human trafficking and drug smuggling were a danger to Cambodia.

Those issues were put in the spotlight this week when Cambodian National Police Chief Hok Lundy flew to Washington for talks with the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Drug Enforcement Administration, among others.
