Cambodia police say a U.S. citizen has been arrested on charges of sexually abusing two young Cambodian girls.
Keo Thea, the deputy chief of Phnom Penh's anti-human trafficking police says Roger Dale Green was arrested late Monday in his hotel room in the capital. Two girls, aged 11 and 12, were in the room with Green at the time of the raid.
Police have charged Green with debauchery, a Cambodian legal term for child sex abuse.
Green is a 59- year old resident of the U.S state of Tennessee.
Foreigners seeking sex with children have increasingly targeted Cambodia, where laws are often not enforced and families are struggling to get out of poverty.
Police have stepped up efforts to address child sex crimes in recent years, arresting a number of foreign tourists.
