A bomb explosion near a busy market in southern Thailand has killed three people and wounded at least 16 others.
The explosives were attached to a motorcycle parked in front of a tea shop in restive Pattani province this Wednesday morning.
They appeared to be targeting a military truck carrying soldiers. The blast killed two female teachers, one of whom was pregnant. A soldier died from his wounds on the way to the hospital.
It is unclear how the bomb was detonated. More than 13-hundred people have been killed in two years of separatist violence in southern Thailand's Muslim-majority provinces -- Pattani, Yala and Narathiwat.
