Eight EU delegation members Thursday met with Prime Minister Hun Sen, National Assembly leader Chea Sim, a Minister of Interior official, Minister of Information and government spokesman Khieu Kanharith, and opposition party officials separately.
The delegation's visit focuses on monitoring political development, economic situation, especially democratic development, human rights issues and good governance.
The delegation is led by Mark Tarabela, first vice president of the delegation for relation between SE. Asian countries and ASEAN, and is visiting Cambodia for one week, finishing on April 25.
Mr. Hun Sen's spokesman Ieng Sophalet told reporters after Mr. Hun Sen and Mr. Tarabela's meeting that the latter wants to understand more about political rights, freedom of speech, human rights, elections, human trafficking, etc...
