Economists Warns of 2006 Economic Fall

The 2005 economic growth to almost 10%, more than the government's forecast, makes the government proud of this achievement.

This was due to the growth of garment factories output, tourism and agriculture. But economic experts warn the government to be careful about 2006 economic fall because of political reasons, infra-structures and customs policies.

Because the garment quota was finished, and agricultural output grows 17% in 2005, the government forecasted that the garment industry would suffer, but the agriculture output was good because of plenty of rainfall and the technology on improving crops was good.

The Economic Institute of Cambodia's director and an economic expert Kang Chandararoath, told VOA that the economy in 2006 will not grow like in 2005.
