Cambodian government spokesman Khieu Kanharith say the U.S. should not be a "big brother" on human rights issues.
Kanharith's reaction came one day after the State Department issued its human rights report 2005 on Cambodia.
The report was critical of Cambodia. It refers to the arrests of human rights activists, democracy advocates, media people, and the repression of freedom of speech.
Government spokesman Khieu Kanharith says Cambodia respects human rights better than the 10 ASEAN member countries.
He criticizes the U.S. State Department's report on human rights saying it copies from the U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees'.
