PM Hun plans to lead a delegation to South Korea for a four-day visit while former king Norodom Sihanouk is in North Korea.
Government officials do not specify whether the Prime Minister will have an audience with the former King. However, government spokesman Khieu Kanharith says that it is not likely that Mr. Hun Sen will visit the former King, because the two countries are far apart, and Mr. Hun Sen will have to pay a visit to the former King officially.
At the beginning of March, Mr. Hun Sen sent a letter to the former King to invite him to come back to Cambodia, but the former Monarch declines saying he will go back to Cambodia in May.
Politicians and civil society officials interpret this invitation as a political detente as tension mounts between the prime minister and Prince Norodom Ranariddh, FUNCINPEC party leader.
