Opposition Sam Rainsy party's (SRP) leader, Sam Rainsy and five other legialators, SRP's high ranking officers Monday morning go to have an audience with King Norodom Sihamoni at the royal palace, in order to express their loyalty, according the party's leader, and to express their thanks to the king for his contributions in the solution of political tension, especially for the king's signature on the royal decree to pardon Mr. Sam Rainsy, Mr. Cheam Channy, and Mr. Chea Poch from penal code.
Telling reporters after having an audience with the King for one hour, Mr. Sam Rainsy says they have freedom, and the ability to fulfill their roles as lawmakers again, and that they are happy, and will not forget King Sihamoni's role in national unification.
Mr. Sam rainsy returns to Cambodia on February 10 after more than one year of self-exile in Frence, after his immunity was lifted by the National Assembly for defamation charge. He and the other two legislators were free of charges after they express regrets for their actions and get the royal pardon.
Mr. Sam Rainsy says that he did not talk with the king about political issues or the constitutional amendment.
He says that SRP sent two of its lawmakers' names who sign the constitutional amendment's legislation to Prime Minister Hun Sen so that the prime minister will submit them to the legislators for voting.
Mr. Sam Rainsy says that his party has the same principles as the CPP's. Mr. Hun Sen says in a speech in Siemreap city that he will gather everybody to be friends and there will be no enemies for the national construction.
FUNCINPEC party's spokesman Chea Chan Boribo cannot be reached for comment about the party's principles and its reaction to Mr. Sam Rainsy's allegations.
The Center for Social Development's director Ms. Chea Vannath says that these are just political parties's leaders's theories, and that the 50% plus one formula is more than 2/3 majority votes, but this does not mean that the use of 50% plus formula has no problem.
She says this because she sees that solving problems after each election asks for the understanding of the position of the winners and the losers, how fair and transparent is the election and whether or not both parties accept the election result.
