Cambodia Freedom Fighters Families Appeal For Pardon

Cambodia Freedom Fighters (CFF) families in Pailin city appeal to prime minister Hun Sen and King Sihamoni to pardon their husbands and families detained in Prey Sar prison for many years.

A 45-year old woman in Pailin says that her 51-year old husband was charged with using weapons to topple the government more than 5 years ago and the court sentenced him to 15 years in prison. She says that she has 4 other family members who are in the prison.

She says that last year she appealed to King Sihamoni to pardon her husband when the king went to her city to see the people.

The government spokesman Khieu Kanharith says that he is not informed about the issue but that for the CFF case, prime minister Hun Sen is not thinking about giving pardon.

He says that the government's lawyers take care of that issue. Then the government gives advice to the prime minister.

The prime minister may then discuss it with the Minister of Justice, and each investigation cannot be summarized.
