Lngim School Incident is Still Under Investigation

The Cambodian authorities continue their investigation into a burning incident of former King Sihanouk's, Queen Monineath's, and King Sihamoni's pictures, and other materials in a primary school in Oral town, Kampong Speu province.

Initial investigation alleges that this incident is not related to politics or royalty.

Kampong Speu province governor Chab Nalyvuth alleges that he led a delegation going to the site Thursday morning and that the burning has nothing to do with politics or royalty, but rather it is related to anger.

He says he orders an investigation and considers measures to arrest and bring those involved to justice.

Two school buildings were both inaugurated on December 19, one from the fund given by the Fund Society and another by an organization called LWF.

The villagers and the civil societies say that it appears that the vandalism is related to a land conflict between the school principal and a group of soldiers.
