The U.N. delegation led by Michelle Lee U.N. coordinator on Khmer Rouge tribunal will visit Cambodia for ten days beginning Tuesday according to UN officials. The purpose of the visit is believed to help speed up the technical aspect of the Khmer Rouge tribunal.
Ms. Lee's spokeswoman, Anne-Marie Ibanez, said the mission is to finalize all those preparations concerning the size of the tribunal.
Cambodia and the U.N. agreed in 2003 to have a tribunal to try the former Khmer Rouge leaders of genocide, and crimes against humanity.
Michelle Lee was appointed by U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan in August as Deputy Director of the Office of Administration of the Khmer Rouge Tribunal.
Under the agreement, Cambodia is to appoint the Director of the office. In November, Mr. Sean Visoth was appointed director.
