Former King Sihanouk Tuesday said that he will not return to Cambodia to see his "children" (his people) because of poor health and weak heart.
In his message in French from Beijing to his people and the Cambodian officials, the former King asks for their forgiveness for not being able to return to his homeland.
He said that his Chinese doctors advised him to stay in Beijing. Mr. Son Chhay, Sam Rainsy party's legislator regrets the former King's decision and is saddened by the former King's illness.
He said that former King Sihanouk suffers because he cannot do anything to help his people regarding problems plaguing his country, notably the border issues.
Mr. Chiem Yiep, CPP legislator said first he was happy to hear news of the former King's return, but then is saddened by the news that the former King will not return. He says the former King is a mediator who is able to help solve Cambodia's problems.
Mr. Kem Sokha, Cambodia Center for Human Rights' president said that the former King should be left alone to stay in Beijing for medical treatment.
