Vice president of the Supreme National Council on Border Issues Princess Vichara said the council is slowly dying because it can not find a new president after former king Sihanouk had resigned.
Created in May, the border council has only met once in Beijing under the leadership of king Sihanouk.
It's believed that former King Sihanouk resigned because he was not given any powers in the council.
Government border committee Var Kim Hong believes King Sihamoni will be able to appoint a new president.
Opposition lawmaker Keo Remy said without the former King, the Supreme National Council on Border Issues has little meaning even though it still exists.
