Cambodian officials met with representatives of donor countries Monday in Phnom Penh to ask for help in coming up with USD $ 11.8 millions for the Khmer Rouge tribunal.
The special tribunal for the Khmer Rouge leaders is estimated to cost 56.3 million dollars. The international community have agreed to help pay most of the cost.
Cambodia is expected to contribute 13.3 million dollars. It says it can only afford to pay 1.5 million dollars.
Permanent secretary-general of the Cambodian Special Task Force on the Khmer Rouge Tribunal Sean Visoth said the goal of today's meeting is to ask the donor countries to help come up with the rest of the money Cambodia could not contribute.
Representatives of countries who attended today's meeting reportedly have not responded to Cambodia's appeal for help.
