Cambodian opposition party criticized the coalition government for attempting to silence the Sam Rainsy Party (SRP) in the National Assembly.
Last week, lawmakers from FUNCINPEC and the Cambodian People's Party (CPP) decided to amend the constitution to reduced the quorum to 74 from 87.
FUNCINPEC and CPP lawmakers said the action is necessary to end the lack of quorum in the national assembly and to make the SRP boycott useless.
SRP secretary-general Eng Chhay Eang said if all the lawmakers from FUNCINPEC and CPP attend parliamentary sessions there is no need to amend the constitution because there are 99 lawmakers from the two ruling parties.
Eng Chhay Eang accused the coalition government of taking the action to silence the opposition party in the national assembly
