Car Bomb Blast in Baghdad Kills 10

Iraqi police say a car bomb exploded near a Baghdad market Thursday, killing at least 10 people and wounding dozens more.

Police say the blast set a number of shops on fire and damaged several cars parked nearby.

The attack comes a day after more than 70 people were killed in a number of suicide bombings in three Iraqi cities, Hawija, Tikrit and Baghdad.

Meanwhile, U.S. Marines continued an offensive against insurgents in an area near the Syrian border.

A senior U.S. military officer involved in the operation, Col. Bob Chase, says Marines are getting good cooperation from local residents as they patrol near the town of Ramana, north of the Euphrates River.

In another development, Iraq's parliament has named a 55-member committee of Sunnis, Shi'ites, and Kurds to draft the country's constitution.
