The honorary president of the Cambodia People's Party (CPP) Heng Samrin reacted cautiously to former King Norodom Sihanouk's refusal to recognize the border treaties Cambodia signed with its neighbors during the late '70s and '80s.
Heng Samrin said CPP took full responsibilities when it signed those treaties.
Under the leadership of Heng Samrin and Hun Sen, Cambodia has signed several treaties with Vietnam and Thailand which critics said benefited those two countries more than they benefited Cambodia.
Former King Sihanouk announced he did not recognize the treaties with Vietnam and Thailand.
He has asked Vietnam, Thailand, and Laos to respect Cambodia's territories and respect the 1991 Paris Peace Agreement for Cambodia.
Heng Samrin said CPP does not allow any one of Cambodia's neighbors to violate existing Cambodia territories.
Cambodian analysts and social leaders urge the Cambodian government to void the old treaties with Vietnam and Thailand.
