Cambodia exported 39 tons of rice to the US for the first time.
Eighteen members of the Association of the Cambodia Rice Mills(RCTC) in cooperation with the Medium and Small Enterprise (SME), signed a contract with the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to export Jasmine rice grown in Battambang province.
RCTC president Kim Savuth said this is only an experiment and that the RCPC does not make any profit. The rice comes in a 22kg bag and is sold for $13.00.
Mr. Kim said Cambodian businessmen in Long Beach, California, promise to help distribute the rice to all other states
