Cambodian Classical Dance Troupe presents "Seasons of Migration" to New Yorkers from April 19-24, 2005.
Choreographer and director Sophiline Cheam Shapiro uses Khmer classical dance and characters to describe a psychological transformation associated with culture shock.
According to Shapiro, everyone experiences culture shock when he/she moves to a new place. Ms. Shapiro is able to combine the old and the new to create a classical dance that's contemporary and very moving.
The performances are sold out on Friday night, and are almost full for the other five days. The audience loves the performance of the 18 classical dancers.
