Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister Hor Nam Hong talks to VOA Khmer service immediately after his meeting with UN General-Secretary Kofi Annan.
DPM Hor Nam Hong said he had assured the UN Secretary-General the UN-Cambodian agreement would be passed very soon. But he said he had told Mr. Annan that money could be an issue for Cambodia.
The UN wanted Cambodia to pay its share in the trial. Asked how much the UN expects Cambodia to pay, Mr. Hor said there's no specific dollar amount. He only said the UN expects Cambodia to pay its share.
When VOA asked for the names of the former KR who would be put on trial, the DPM said it's up to the tribunal to decide.
The Office of the Spokesman for the UN Secretary-General said Mr. Annan expressed his hope that the agreement between the UN and the Government of Cambodia would take place as soon as possible.
Mr. Annan stressed the importance of negotiations on the budget for the Extraordinary Chambers to resume as soon as possible and added that the UN stands ready to play an active role.
