Prince Ranariddh Tells Funcinpec Not to Claim Him as President

Prince Norodom Ranariddh has issued a warning to his former party, Funcinpec, to strike his name from their literature within a month.

Funcinpec lists him as a founder with honorary titles, but this, the prince says, needs to be removed. If they do not remove it, he will take legal action, the prince said in a letter to Funcinpec President Keo Puth Reaksmey.

Funcinpec leaders were not available for comment.

Prince Ranariddh's push to be removed from Funcinpec's roster highlights a reluctance to reconcile with a royalist party that is now the government coalition partner.

NRP spokesman Muth Chantha said he sent the letter to Keo Puth Reaksmey, and if he receives no response, he will take measures through the courts.

The letter is a call to Funcinpec to stop confusing voters with Prince Ranariddh's name, Muth Chantha said.
