The Cambodian Union Federation has appealed to the International Labor Organization to form an investigation committee to solve the murder of Chea Vichea and two other union activists. Chea Vichea, an outspoken, popular labor leader, was murdered in 2004.Two men are in jail for his murder, but they are widely believed by rights groups to be innocent.
Factory union leader Ros Sovannareth was killed later that year, and another factory union head, Hy Vuthy, was killed in February.
Cambodia Union Federation President Rong Chhun said the group had no faith in the government to find the true killers of Chea Vichea.
"We want the ILO and international labor unions to form an international committee to investigate and find the real killers and the masterminds," he said, "to give justice to the victims and stop impunity in Cambodia."
