Chinese PM Wen Jiabao Will Visit Cambodia Friday

Chinese Prime Minister Wen Jiabao will make a two-day official visit to Cambodia Friday to strengthen friendship and cooperation in economic development between the two countries as a traditional and historic custom between Cambodia and China for a long time, say Cambodian officials.

Last month Vietnamese Prime Minister Phan Van Khai also visited Cambdodia.

Political observers say the visit comes at the time when political development is taking place in Cambodia.

They say the two visits seem to be related to political situation in Cambodia.

A press release from the Cambodian Ministry of Foreign Affairs says Mr. Wen plans to meet with Prime Minister Hun Sen, Senate president Chea Sim, and National Assembly president Heng Samrin who are all from the Cambodian People's Party (CPP).

It also says the Chinese premier will have an audience with King Sihamoni.
