PM Hun Sen Says Money is Not an Issue in Khmer Rouge Tribunal

Prime Minister Hun Sen Monday says that money is not an issue in the Khmer Rouge Tribunal, a regime that murdered nearly two million Cambodians when in power between 1975-1979.

According to the agreement between the U.N. and the Cambodian government, the international community spends 43 million dollars for the tribunal and the Cambodian government will spend 13 million 300,000 dollars.

Mr. Hun Sen says that the government has money and it will use this budget for this procedure. He adds that the Cambodian government will look for additional money.

He says further that this problem should not be an obstacle to the Khmer Rouge tribunal.

The U.N. and the Cambodian government will create an office in January 2006.

Mr. Sean Visoth was appointed by King Sihamoni as director of the Office of Administration to serve the Extraordinary Chambers for the Khmer Rouge tribunal.
