Opposition Sam Rainsy party (SRP) Secretary General Eng Chhay Eang resigned yesterday (Monday).
SRP legislator Son Chhay calls this resignation a normal procedure in the party and says that other parties should follow this example. He wishes to see other parties members to be reshuffled.
Mr. Eng has taken this position for almost 6 years. He says that this resignation does not mean he will defect to other parties, but it is rather due to his health and that his term is due.
CPP and FUNCINPEC parties members criticize this decision saying that the opposition party has internal problem, as its secretary general resigns and its leader is in exile.
