Thailand Released Cambodian Prisoners

At least 17 Cambodian prisoners have been released from the Thai prison leaving Thailand through Poi Pet internationl gate in Banteay Mean Chey province, after the Khmer authorities intervene in the decision, alleged Khmer border officials.

The border crossing police say that these prisoners were arrested by a Thai captain on November 19 for crossing the border into Thailand illegally using fake border passes.

The Cambodian and Thai governments have issued what they called border pact for the people of the two countries to use for easy entry into the other country.

The border gate police in charge of administrative affairs, Thon Phon said that the Thais can go to Banteay Mean Chey and Siem Reap provinces, and the Cambodians can go to Srah Keo and Prachunburi provinces.
