PM Hun Sen Advises Party Supporters

Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen urges people not to sell their properties to help political parties in election campaigns and expect to get positions in return.

Speaking to farmers in Kompong Cham on Thursday, Hun Sen said he does not want to see people get hurt when they do not positions they are promised.

Secretary-general of the Sam Rainsy Party(SRP) Eng Chhay Ieng said his party never advises anyone to sell their properties in exchange for positions. Instead, he said SRP urges people to select their leaders carefully.

Deputy prime minister and co-minister of the ministry of defense Nhek Bun Chhay said the FUNCINPEC party does not ask people for financial support in exchange for positions.

But the co-minister of defense admitted there are some people who are using FUNCINPEC to solicitate money from innocent people.

Some observers say political parties could be involved in this tactic and urge them to stop promising people positions
