The Cambodian Center for Human Rights (CCHR) ended a public forum in a pagoda in Kompong Thom Wednesday without any incidents.
Such forum was suspended several months ago when Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen warned that the Buddhist pagodas should not be used for insulting other people.
CCHR officials said about 700 people from all over Kompong Thom came to participate in the Wednesday forum.
CCHR is funded by the US based International Republican Institute(IRI) and USAID.
The forum gives people the opportunity to ask representatives of various political parties any questions they have in mind.
Although there was a rumor that a group of people planned to interrupt the forum, the 4 hour-long meeting ended peacefully under the watchful eyes of local police.
CCHR president Kem Sokha said his organization was able to hold the public forum thanks to the head monk of the pagoda and the local authorities.
