CPP President Chea Sim Receives Medical Treatment in Japan

A high-ranking official in the Cambodian People's Party (CPP) said Thursday CPP president Chea Sim has left for Japan for medical treatment.

CPP officials who accompanied Chea Sim that there was no serious illness involved.

CPP honorary president Heng Samrin told reporters at the National Assembly that Chea Sim left on Tuesday for his neck treatment.

CPP said that Chea Sim suffers heart disease, a tumor and arthritis.

Mr. Heng Samrin clarifies that Chea Sim is still CPP president and that there's no discussion or plan to choose a new president.
