Osteoarthritis is a chronic disorder related to but not caused by aging. Cartilage can be less resilient, and inflammation of the surrounding joint can also occur. Congenital disorders, cracking joints, joint injury, hormonal disorders and obesity, which puts extra weight on knees and other joints.
