The Cambodian government and the United Nations Development Program signed an understanding Monday to renew a media coverage agreement for April’s commune elections.
Opponents say that fairness is impossible, as the ruling Cambodian People’s Party is often highlighted in the media.
Minister of Information Khieu Kanharith signed the agreement with a UNDP representative, Anne Isabelle Degryse-Blateua, who said this marked the first time opposition leaders would be both seen and heard on the news explaining their platforms.
