Prime Minister Hun Sen on Monday blasts U.S. congressman Dana Rohrabacher’s suggestion that he should retire from politics.
The comment was leaked to the Cambodian Prime Minister by the National Assembly’s first president Nguon Nhel, who is currently visiting Washington DC-, the capitol of the United States.
In response, Hun Sen announced publicly at Phoumin University that he would only consider retiring from politics, when the people of Cambodia vote to remove him from power.
SRP’s leader Sam Rainsy says that there are many potential leaders in Cambodia who have better qualifications than Prime Minister Hun Sen.
Muth Chantha, Norodom Ranariddh party spokesman says that under the current PM’s leadership, Cambodia has faced many problems including, poverty, corruption, unfair judicial systems, and land conflicts. He also said the Cambodian people could have a voice and that is through their votes.
Dana Rohrabacher, who is currently representing California's 46th congressional district, has opposed Prime Minister Hun Sen’s leadership since 1997.
