Khmer Rouge Tribunal Judges And Prosecutors Will Be Sworn In

International and local Khmer Rouge tribunal jurists are getting ready for the swearing in ceremony on July 3rd, at the Royal Palace without any problem, alleges a Khmer Rouge tribunal spokesman Wednesday.

Thirty jurists with 17 Cambodian and 13 United Nation jurists were chosen by King Sihamoni after the Supreme Council of the Magistracy voted to select them in May.

These jurists have not started their work yet, due to some allegations that the United Nations side asks for the delay to chose its additional personnel.

Prime Minister Hun Sen warned in the past that if there is any delay in the Khmer Rouge tribunal, not to put the blame on the Cambodian government, but rather on the United Nations.

Khmer Rouge tribunal spokesman Reach Sambath says that the international side states that it has chosen those personnel aides, and both sides agree to set July 3rd date as the swearing in ceremony.

He says that if there is no problem the ceremony should go smoothly. Opposition Sam Rainsy party legislator Keo Remy welcomes the move, and reminding that the former Khmer Rouge leaders are aging and might not be alive when the trial will begin.
